Twenty-four year-old Uffie – one of the few artists deserving the label “electropop sensation” – first commandeered the world’s attention collaborating with Feadz, whom she met club-hopping on the Parisian alternative music scene in 2005. Uffie – “un oeuf” – was noticed for her sizzling “Warholian” performances, and was swiftly signed to Ed Banger Records (Justice, Sebastian, Mr Oizo et al). She released her debut album Sex Dreams & Denim Jeans in 2010, when the record made Drowned in Sound’s Top 50 Albums of the Year. Frequently labelled a “muse” to the influential artists in her inner circle, Uffie’s record “Pop the Glock” has been widely remixed by names including Felix Da Housecat and Ellen Allien. “ADD SUV”, meanwhile, features Pharrel Williams and is produced by Mirwais nonetheless.
Headman, aka Berlin-based producer and DJ Robi Insinna, emerged from the nu disco movement of the early 2000s. His unique mix of house, disco and rock (“punk funk”) led to the release of four critically-acclaimed albums and gave rise to collaborations with Soulwax, The Rapture and Dieter Meier (on the single “Gimme”), among a truckload of other enlightened electronic artists.
